Microsoft Expands Reach; Introduces Office on Android Phones

FREMONT, CA: Microsoft Office is finally available for Android users too. The latest release includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint crafted for the Android smartphones. Microsoft Office was already available on iOS devices, Windows and OS X, however, making it available to the Android mobile, is a welcome relief for the users.

The Office app allows the users to review and edit files, make presentations on PowerPoint and access documents from storing places like Google Drive and Dropbox. The requirement for installing is- 1GB of RAM and Android KitKat (4.4.x) or above.

Word for Android, Excel for Android and PowerPoint for Android are available for download on Google Play. They will be pre-installed on devices from over 30 OEMs and are expected to be available by the year-end.

Office that was once available only on Windows PC is now being available on almost all the platforms.

Kirk Koenigsbauer, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Office Client Applications and Services, says, "We are so grateful to our preview users, and with their help we were able to test the apps on over 1,900 different Android phone models in 83 countries.”
