Morgan Solar Delivers Innovative Concentrated Photovoltaic Technology

By CIOReview | Tuesday, November 25, 2014

FREMONT, CA: Bringing innovation in solar energy production technology is Morgan Solar which has brought about a disruption in concentrated photovoltaic technology that delivers greater power output at reduced cost, reduced space and quicker setup, reports Jennifer Stoneburgh from MaRS.

At the heart of innovation is the light-guide solar optic (LGSO) that replaces complex, bulky lenses and mirrors to concentrate the sun’s rays onto a tiny photovoltaic (PV) cell. This results in lesser number of CPV paving way for cost benefits. Efficiency is doubled with LGSO technology and has other benefits such as reduced complexity, reduced expenditure, reduced space requirement, and greater reliability.

The company uses a dual-axis tracker which ensures good 25 percent to 40 percent increase in the power production of the CPV system by following the sun’s path with greater precision. The derived output power also depends on factors such as latitude and climate.

Morgan Solar takes a nimble approach to build an energy production setup where it doesn’t require specialized machinery and parts. Leveraging available manufacturing processes and equipment, the company delivers shorter lead time and low CAPEX.

The company has partnered with EnerTech Holding Company to broaden its market reach in Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council region.
