Mtell and MapR Brings into Play Mtell Reservoir, a New Big Data Platform for Oil and Gas
SAN DIEGO, CA:Mtelligence Corporation, a provider of software solutions for managing the health of industrial equipment and MapR Technologies, a distributor of Apache Hadoop unveils their new Big Data platform ‘Mtell Reservoir’.
The platform combines the MapR Distribution including Hadoop, Mtell Previse Software, and Open TSDB (time-series database) software technology. Mtell Reservoir imbibes and analyses real-time sensor and historical data along with maintenance data that are generated from industrial equipment for oil rigs, chemical plants, mining, water, and wastewater.
Mtell Reservoir is an enterprise historian precisely designed for data center user needs. By distributing disk access and CPU processing across MapR clusters of computers provides orders of magnitude improvements over modern plant historians.
“Their expertise in the oil and gas space has been invaluable and played a key role in the success of applying the MapR Distribution in this demanding environment for reliably ingesting and analyzing data,” states Ted Dunning, Chief Application Architect, MapR Technologies.
Enabling remote monitoring and analysis from a central repository for subject matter experts within organizations, Mtell Reservoir act as a predictive maintenance solution. With the assistance of Mtell Previse, system proactively learns patterns of normal and errant behavior across the equipments to provide early warnings of minor obstacles thereby avoiding equipment failure. The platform also throws light to new insights on machine and process operations efficiency, quality, and utilization.
“With a predictable, low-cost scaling methodology, MapR offers a top performing Hadoop distribution that can deliver the performance levels required when it comes to handling massive amounts of sensor and maintenance data,” says Mike Brooks, President and COO, Mtell while talking about the new product.
