NetCDF Support now Available for OpenGeo Suite Version 4.8

FREMONT, CA: Boundless Spatial, Inc., a provider of open source geospatial software and services recently announced the incorporation of NetCDF Support for Atmospheric Data within the newest edition of its OpenGeo Suite, Version 4.8. NetCDF was developed in coalition with Boundless partner GeoSolutions on demands of North American consumers and its support allows OpenGeo Suite users to execute a more authoritative analysis of atmospheric and meteorological data.

NetCDF (Network Common Data Format), from makers Unidata, encompasses a cluster of software libraries and self-describing, machine-independent data formats that support the creation, access, and sharing of array-oriented scientific data. OpenGeo has garnered a reputation as one of the most useful data formats for weather. OpenGeo Suite version 4.8 can devour and envisage NetCDF data and GRIB datasets on a multi-dimensional, OGC-compliant basis that allows authorization of concurrent analysis of various data vectors. OpenGeo Suite supports analysis across 2 or more axes at the same time, unlike traditional geospatial tools that use NetCDF support which can only analyze on a layer-by-layer basis. As a result, analysts can examine changes in air temperature across various times and various altitudes at once, wherein alternative solutions can only examine a single altitude at a time.
