Irvine and Grass Valley, CA: Paragon Software Group, a data protection technology provider, has recently announced the selection of its Universal File System Driver (UFSD) technology by Western Digital Corporation to deliver augmented connectivity for the WD Pro series of products. Additionally, its exFAT and HFS+ solutions have been selected by AJA Video for enhancing the interoperability of their next-gen file-based 4K/UltraHD and 2K/HD video recorder and player, Ki Pro Ultra.

With Paragon’s UFSD technology, Western Digital’s customers will be enabled to attach their NTFS (Windows), HFS+ (Mac), exFAT for SDXC cards, and other exFAT-formatted storage devices to WD’s Linux-based products. This connectivity will provide rapid, transparent, and full read / write access to the non-native file systems. By adding Paragon’s exFAT technology, WD products now support SDXC cards and provide maximum interoperability between Windows and Mac OS X operating systems.

“We are thrilled and honored to expand our partnership by supporting Western Digital’s exciting new mobile storage and NAS offerings,” said Tom Fedro, President, Paragon Software Group. “Through the use of our UFSD products, Western Digital is not only delivering seamless connectivity, but also providing a greater customer experience.”

On the other hand, AJA Video’s customers will be provided with Paragon’s technology as a firmware upgrade and embedded in the new Ki Pro Ultra products. With Paragon’s cross-platform file access technology, the storage and mobile devices, network appliances, multimedia players, NAS, and other hardware gain the ability to communicate with storage media irrespective of the OS or chipset platform. This helps the consumers in streaming multimedia content to network and entertainment devices for playback later on a device of their own choice.

“The Ki Pro Ultra is the latest example of the innovation and quality that AJA Video brings to the professional broadcast, video and post-production markets,” says Fedro.

As per the updated agreement between Paragon and Western Digital, the exFAT technology will be embedded in Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices. The technology will be delivered as a firmware update for Western Digital’s new My Cloud Pro Series NAS, including the EX2 Ultra, EX2100, EX4100, DL2100 and DL4100 NAS devices.
