Patton Releases New US-Manufactured C1D2 Industrial Ethernet Switch for Deployment in Hazardous Environments

FREMONT, CA: A leading manufacturer of enabling solutions for Unified Communications (UC) and the Internet of Things (IIoT), Patton Electronics is now taking orders for the novel Connect-IT CT1005EX unmanaged industrial Ethernet switch, further growing the business’s already-extensive range of industrial-communication products.

The device brings reliable, IIoT-enabling ethernet connectivity for harsh environments as power and wastewater treatment plants, oil or gas extraction and mining operations, transportation systems, and others.

The innovative unmanaged industrial ethernet switch further increases Patton’s wide-ranging array of toughened and ruggedized network connectivity solutions for manufacturing communication systems.

“Not all Ethernet switches are the same,” said Johnnie Grant III, Product Manager, Patton. “Ethernet connectivity is a near-universal requirement for today’s industrial networks. However, many Ethernet switches cannot tolerate harsh operating environments. A Zone-Two C1D2 switch that is made in the USA... That is NOT easy to find,” he adds.

Patton’s new industrial Ethernet switch is designed for use in National Electrical Code (NEC) /or International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Class 1, Division 2 (C1D2), also known as ATmosphères EXplosives (ATEX) Zone 2 applications.

The product is resilient to signal interference from magnetic, radio, static, and electrical discharge (RFI, ESD, EMI, EFT) and also delivers electrical surge protection. Patton’s layer-2 (L2) industrial shift boasts internal intelligence that permits a simple plug and play process for fast and easy network installation. The unmanaged ruggedized ethernet switch also structures power-to-network and port-to-port isolation for improved safety and noise immunity, plus a terminated power connection for optional backup or standby power.
