PTC Acquires Kepware to Accelerate IIoT and Data Automation
NEEDHAM, MA: With the incorporation of machine learning and Big Data through IoT for industrial use, Industrial IoT has changed the way enterprises capture and automate data. To this end, PTC, a provider of technology platforms and solutions for IoT, acquires Kepware, a software development company.
Through this acquisition, PTC will incorporate Kepware’s KEPServerEX into its ThingWorx IoT technology platform. KEPServerEX is a platform that offers a single source of industrial automation data to all the applications allowing users to connect, manage, monitor and control various automation devices through a user interface. With OPC-industrial communication standard, unified architecture and IT centric communication protocols, KEPServerEX provides its users with a single source of industrial data. It focuses on accessibility, aggregation, optimization, connectivity, security and diagnostics.
PTC’s ThingWorx is an IoT platform designed to build and run applications to reduce time and cost to build M2M applications. It comprises of the design-develop-deploy cycle of an application, reducing time to market. With the integration of ThingWorx with KEPServerEX, machine data will be integrated with a wide array of internal and external information, and will be analyzed automatically through ThingWorx machine learning capabilities. The integration will enable enterprises to optimize mission critical processes and improve operation performance, quality and time to market.
Industries already leveraging the Kepware technology will now be able to make use of the expanded benefits offered by the PTC ThingWorx IoT platform. Additionally, through this acquisition, Kepware will offer value connectivity option to PTC clients for deeper visibility into data from industrial controls and production equipment allowing them to commence their factory initiatives.
“PTC is committed to helping manufacturers, infrastructure operators, and others realize the enormous value inherent in the Internet of Things.
