PORTLAND, OR: Puppet Labs, provider of IT automation software, collaborates with Cisco for the integration of Puppet Enterprise and Cisco NX-OS. It is delivering native Puppet NX-OS agent alongside the Cisco Puppet Module, under the Cisco Solution Partner Program.

Cisco Open NX-OS will be delivered in Q3CY15 for the Cisco Nexus 3000 and 9000 with integrated Puppet Labs solutions to the customers, bringing infrastructure as code practices to the management of Cisco Nexus 3000 and 9000 Series Switches. “The new Cisco Open NX-OS platform for Nexus 9000 and 3000 Series Switches delivers a programmable API and object model to automate network configuration and management while taking advantage of familiar Linux toolsets,” states Frank D’ Agostino, CTO, Technical Marketing for Cisco’s Insieme Business Unit.

“The tight integration of Puppet Enterprise and Cisco Open NX-OS will provide greater SDN-based programmable infrastructure capabilities that enable advanced, automated DevOps capabilities for customers,” he adds.

Moreover, by using Puppet Enterprise tools integrated in Open NX-OS, users can not only get SDN benefits, but also they can extend DevOps practices to network administration across mega scale data centers, commercial and large enterprises by defining their desired network configuration with infrastructure as code. With infrastructure as code users can also do cross-team collaboration, automated infrastructure testing, and automated application deployments.
