Pure Storage Climbs the OpenStack Bandwagon

FREMONT, CA: All-flash storage solutions from Pure Storage are now available on the largely popular open source hybrid cloud computing platform, OpenStack. The company is bringing its two new solutions for OpenStack-based private and public clouds, OpenStack Cinder Driver and Python Automation Toolkit. With these new integrations, OpenStack users will have the benefits of simplified storage management, rich automation, and expanded features in the cloud.

Pure Storage made an announcement that is has joined OpenStack Foundation as a corporate sponsor and committer. The company is bullish about working with the community driven by technology and innovation.

OpenStack Cinder Driver for Purity Operating Environment (OE) – supports developer operations, with support for OpenStack Juno volume commands. Cinder is the infrastructure for managing block-based storage in OpenStack. The driver is integrated with OpenStack public and private clouds through REST API.  FlashArrary that comes with the driver provides users with benefits such as easy deployment, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.

Python automation toolkit enables users to create advanced storage workflows through which extended storage automation can be achieved in a simple manner. The toolkit when used in conjunction with the Cinder Driver providers greater automation; it improves the Cinder FlashArray functionality as well.  It can be used to create new Python workflows, and expand the monitoring, capacity, and DR capabilities of their OpenStack deployments.
