FREMONT, CA: In order to address the increasing demands of IoT applications and solutions for automation, remote sensing and industrial control, RFaxis, provider of semiconductor and RF solutions teams up with Renesas Electronics America. The partnership will integrate Renesas RL78/G1D Bluetooth Smart microcontroller with RFaxis RFX2411N 2.4GHz RF front end IC.

Renesas RL78/G1D supports Bluetooth Smart in embedded and modem mode.  It comes with an RF adaptable technology that strikes a balance between current consumption and range of communication. With firmware over the air feature (FOTA), it boosts the upgradation of applications in the field. On the other hand, RFaxis RFX2411N is a single chip, single die RFeIC, incorporating the RF functionality that is required by the wireless smart energy applications. It is designed for 2.4 GHz ISM band, supports the 802.15.4 and ZigBee standard. Through this partnership Renesas can take advantage of RFaxis’ module reference design comprising of Bluetooth smart.

“RFaxis provides us with an ideal solution for an extended range module combining our latest BLE v4.1 MCU with their high-performance, low-cost and small form factor RFX2411N RF front–end IC,” says Vin D’Agostino, Vice President, General Purpose Products Unit, Renesas Electronics America.
