SanDisk Launches New Flash Storage Solution to Boost Efficiency of Cloud Service Providers
FREMONT, CA: SanDisk Corporation, a provider of flash storage solutions, announces its new CloudSpeed Ultra Gen. II SATA SSD for cloud service provider (CSP) and software-defined storage (SDS) vendor environments to provide storage performance and density needed for mixed-use, latency-sensitive transactional workloads such as e-commerce and collaborative online services.
CloudSpeed Ultra Gen. II SSD provides cloud computing performance density advantages to enable low-latency application performance that powers e-commerce, mobile apps and in-app purchases, web servers, collaboration, and additional cloud computing infrastructure.
The new launch includes SanDisk’s innovative Guardian Technology Platform that provides a combination of powerful error correction and detection technology, full data path protection and data fail recovery. It has been designed with value and performance in mind to deliver a compelling price/performance ratio and unparalleled latency-sensitive workload performance for cloud elasticity to meet cloud-capacity needs. The new flash storage solution works within existing infrastructure of SATA interface. It can replace hard disk drives for lower total cost of ownership (TCO) and better data center efficiency through server consolidation.
CSPs need to manage transactional and mixed workloads such as databases, email/collaboration, Linux containers to satisfy consumer cloud services like ecommerce and enterprise-oriented XaaS offerings. In order to offer database and application performance tiers of service, providers need to increase compute-storage density for efficient data center utilization.
“The demand of transaction-oriented applications puts tremendous strain on our cloud service provider customers to architect data center platforms capable of delivering high performance, while keeping infrastructure costs in check. As a trusted provider of flash storage solutions, SanDisk understands the critical need for cloud elasticity in order to raise customer service levels. With CloudSpeed Ultra Gen. II, CSP and SDS companies can provide an exceptional customer experience, while reducing administrative overhead along with the number of servers and software licenses needed to support transaction and analytical databases,” said John Scaramuzzo, senior vice president and general manager, Enterprise Storage Solutions, SanDisk.
