FREMONT, CA: The collaboration of SAP Ariba and the US multinational American Express to trim down complexities in B2B procurement process comes as an initiative aimed at turning the current market challenges into opportunities. The problem faced by enterprises today is in adhering to their standards in procurement while purchasing and reconciling items that doesn’t come under the purview of their B2B spending patterns. For instance the emergency or one time purchases of ergonomic products and presentation props.
To streamline the accounts payable process and financial statement reconciliation, the companies will merge their technical knowledge and expertise—digital financing services of American Express and the global procurement solutions of SAP Ariba. The system will tally the transaction data on American Express commercial accounts to the purchase order information available on Ariba Spot buy. Ariba Spot buy enables process efficiencies by linking the organization’s ERP system to more than 1.7 Mnsuppliers on the Ariba Network. By keying in information with respect to item quantity and schedule into the procurement system, users get access to the supplier data and can simultaneously compare the quotes. They can pick the best offer and send the purchase order back to the ERP system.
“Visibility and control of supplier payments is a top concern raised by companies looking to gain predictability of cash flow and working capital needs to efficiently operate their business,” says David Desharnais, SVP and General Manager, B2B Digital and Commercial Platforms, American Express. The Ariba Spot Buy is available to Global Payments customers of American Express who use Ariba Procurement software in US.
