Sigma Raises Production Count for Its UHD TV Chip With HDR
FREMONT, CA: Providers of System-on-chip (SOC) solutions SigmaDesigns decides to bulk up its manufacturing of UltraHD High Dynamic Range (HDR) TV IC chip. The STV7701 designed by Sigma holds the exclusivity of being the only product supporting multiple HDR standards including HDR 10, BD UHD, and Dolby Vision. This novel UHD SoC is laced with software enhanced for over-the-top (OTT) video streaming services and a broad range of progressive competencies for premium Smart TV offerings. STV7701 when along with a companion Ultra HD FRC chip can provide an ideal solution for UHD 120Hz Smart TV.
The High Dynamic Range termed as “third pillar of image quality” is capable of supporting higher range of brightness and color control beyond the limitations of human eye perception. As per facts, human eyes are capable of sensing three times the brightness change and nearly double the color content than today’s UHD televisions. The list for some of the key capabilities supported on this platform include Ultra HD (UHD) Single Chip for 60Hz Smart TV, also sporting 4K Ultra HD (UHD) resolution with High Dynamic Range and Wide Color Gamut capabilities including HDR 10, SMPTE 2084 and 2086, Dolby Vision.
It has 512 Zones 2D Dimming and HEVC (H.265) UHD 10 bit video decoding at 60fps. It also has Google VP9 UHD decoding and a Trusted Execution Environment along with ARM Trust Zone support for content protection. The Integrated UHD HDMI v2 receivers with HDCPv2.2 ensure content protection and Integrated Civolution NexGuard forensic UHD watermarking Technology for curbing content piracy. It features support for Android and Linux operating systems, as well as pre-integrated software for TV middleware, DRM, HTML5 browser engine and other software packages to build TV sets or other display products.
STV7701 is also capable for HDMI 2.0 and is mated with Quad Core ARM CPUs and Quad Core GPUs technology.
