SMART High Reliability Solutions Releases HRS-S3 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s SSD for Defence Industry
GILBERT, AZ: SMART High Reliability Solutions, a manufacturer of rugged and secure, defence and industrial solid-state drives (SSDs) has announced the release of their HRS-S3 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s SSD to perform industrial temperature applications.
Developed for thedefense industry, HRS-S3 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s SSD delivers performance metrics of 500MB/s sequential read and 400MB/s sequential write speeds along with 35K IOPS and 20K IOPS when in operation. Its capacity ranges from 120 to 960GB and has a backup power circuit comprising high-reliability capacitors. Besides this the HRS-S3 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s SSD automatically corrects the errors and also enables the capacitors to prevent loss of data in case of power fluctuations.
The error correction capability of the HRS-S3 allows it to correct up to 28 bits for every 1024 bytes, and end-to-end cyclic redundancy check (CRC) protection guards against data corruption along the entire data path, delivering an uncorrectable bit error rate (UBER) of 1x10-17. The new HRS-S3 SSD secures the data of the customers in two ways. The first method deals with the Secure Data Elimination Technology (SDET) that helps to erase and sanitize every block of Flash in a compliant fashion and the second deals with encrypting the data saved on the HRS-S3 SSD using with AES 256-bit encryption. When the two are combined in the HRS-S3, SDET deletes the encryption key in less than 1 second, and then erases the entire Flash array in less than 10 seconds.
Designed and tested per MIL-STD-810 to operate in high shock and vibration applications at industrial operating temperatures of -40°C to +85°C, the HRS-S3 is also certified for operation at altitudes up to 80,000 ft.
"Due to application requirements, our customer engineering teams are always pushing the limits of designed-in solutions within their products. Whether it be performance, security or environmental based requirements, their products must always function at the highest levels," says Michael Guzzo, General Manager,SMART HRS. "We're excited to offer customers the new HRS-S3 which combines the higher performance, ruggedness and security that our defense and industrial customers require, with the logistical and technical support that SMART customers have grown to rely on over the years."
