Smarter ECM Software for Smarter Document Management
FREMONT, CA: Athento, the enterprise document and content management company, said that its Enterprise Content Management software which is available in the market is an updated version of its current software which has been corrected and bettered in order to become a total solution for businesses when it comes to their content and document management.
According to the company, some of the updates in the software included the inability to offer a consolidated solution which could manage documents and content through the different stages of the life cycle. Other revisions incorporated were the possibility of automating the processes, interoperability of ECM software, and the prices which put the software in the reach of many companies.
The document management company stated that enterprises are tired of acquiring, integrating and working with a collection of technical solutions which do not solve their problems regards to the time taken while working with documents. According to José Luis de la Rosa, CEO, Yerbabuena Software, “Businesses have to obtain document management solutions such as Alfresco or Documentum, but then they’ve also got to buy software like Kofax or Ephesoft to solve the issue of document capture. If, additionally, they also want to have their business processes automated, they’ve got to develop ad hoc solutions for their ECM systems. At the end, what we give them isn’t a complete solution: it’s a series of difficulties of integration and connection, and a lot of hours of work so that they can really get results.”
For the automating process, the applications need to understand and interpret all the information that is contained in the documents and offer sufficient power to the businesses so that they can automatically reproduce their business processes. For this to happen, the software needs to be very smart.
Mr. De la Rosa said, “We believe that there is a smarter way to do document and content management and we are taking these software gaps into account for the Athento road map. The feedback we’ve received from ECM customers makes us work harder on making Athento more intelligent, interoperable and integral. As we believe in that, we offer value by allowing Athento to run on top of ECM software as Alfresco, SharePoint, or Open Text”. He concluded by saying that their developers had taken these shortcomings into account and were working on developing Athento 3.0 which is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2014.
