DELLAS TX: SoftLayer, provider of cloud infrastructure services to the enterprises, has launched Direct Link, a new service for customers to easily install network connection from their IT infrastructure to the SoftLayer private network and cloud services.

Not just this, Direct Link brings in new opportunities for the customers by developing hybrid-computing solutions that link the private infrastructure with the SoftLayer platform. This development is due to its faster, consistent network performance and higher data security.

Direct Link comprises of a network connection from the customer’s data center or office, to the SoftLayer’s data centers and private network via one of the company’s 18 network Points of Presence (PoPs) around the world.  The PoPs reside within facilities operated by SoftLayer partners that include Equinix, Telx, Coresite, Terremark, Pacnet, InterXion and TelecityGroup.

With this new service, the customers can directly access complete control of their infrastructure and services. They can also have access on whether there is higher network performance consistency and predictability, streamlined and accelerated workload and data migration. It also checks if there is improvement in the data and operational security.

“The company’s private infrastructure and internal application will increase, when it can non-disruptively scale its performance. We have customers ranging from startups to enterprises, from SaaS providers to financial institutions that want to do just that. Direct Link helps them optimize their workloads and get more value out of their data. They can move both to and from SoftLayer as easily as if our bare metal and virtual servers and storage were part of their local area network,” says Matt Chilek, chief technology officer, SoftLayer.
