FERMONT, CA: Sohonet, a provider of connectivity and data management services for the media and entertainment industry, offers IBM Cloud’s SoftLayer infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) platform for media companies engaged in post production, visual effects (VFX), and animation.

Through this solution, Sohonet allows access to SoftLayer’s cloud computing resources and simplifies data management and storage through cloud computing solutions. This facilitates the smooth movement of media files during production and post-production. SoftLayer also provides free bandwidth for file transfer between data centers.

IBM Cloud enables Sohonet’s customers to smoothly expand their infrastructure using infrastructure which includes virtual and bare metal servers. This solution enables customers with the ability to host multiple Web servers on a single physical server for high input or output workloads such as film rendering.

To accelerate the performance and backup facility, it enables storage options such as object, block, and file type storage. “Just as more and more businesses take advantage of cloud services, studios and production houses are equally taking advantage of scaling computing resources on demand, avoiding extra capital expenditure for resources they may only need for a few weeks,” says Benjamin Shrive, Enterprise Sales Manager, SoftLayer.

According to Chuck Parker, Executive Chairman, Sohonet, this unique relationship with IBM Cloud offers their customers a low-latency, high-bandwidth private network link into the most versatile and customizable infrastructure platforms.
