Sony Redefines Post-Production Media Workflow with Latest Applications

Middleton, WIS: Sony Creative Software, a provider of media production software and a subsidiary of Sony, launches two new media production applications, Catalyst Browse and Catalyst Prepare. While Catalyst Browse is a free clip-management tool for Sony camcorders and decks such as CineAlta, SR, XDCAM, and NXCAM and the latest PXW-FS7, Catalyst Prepare consists of set of media preparation tools designed for tasks ranging from capture to edit and is available at a price. 

These applications leverage the cutting edge technological implements such as OpenCL GPU accelerated video engine, a broad spectrum of color engine for preview and adjusting S-Log, S-Log2, S-Log3, RAW, and Rec.709 source footage, and wide format support for all Sony Professional cameras.

As a media assistant, Catalyst Browse allows the user to browse files, edit media metadata, utilize source color space for precise viewing with respect to color. The clips can be copied locally to a device or stored on cloud. The media can also be transformed to other formats through ‘transcode’. Besides these tasks, several other activities such as create, ingest, and export of Sony Professional Disc clip lists can also be carried out.

Catalyst Prepare redefines the post-production workflow through features such as import, organize, edit, export, confident Backup, Ultra Wide Color Gamut, and Create a Rought Cut features. These features assist in viewing and importing clips from latest professional cameras, organizing the media, editing, export in a variety of resolutions, frame rates, and formats with the option of uploading to the Sony Ci media cloud, media backup, workaround with colors, through storyboard editor to sequence, edit a rough cut and export it to a variety of Non-linear Editing Systems.
