Splice Machine Launches Version 1.0 for its Hadoop RDBMS Platform
SAN FRANCISCO, CA: Splice Machine, a provider of the Hadoop RDBMS has announced the general availability of its Hadoop RDBMS, a platform to build real-time, scalable applications without the burden or costs of a traditional RDBMS.
The company has released its Hadoop RDBMS as a public beta offering by using valuable datasets, queries, and feedback from customers to guide its development of the database by incorporating features like authentication and authorization, and analytic function capabilities like Window Functions.

For enterprise customers deploying Splice Machine v1.0, Splice Machine offers the Safe Journey program to migrate database workloads. It implements risk-mitigation practices and leverages commercial tools that automate most of the PL/SQL conversion process. This program encompasses comprehensive services and support, including training courses, a Kickstart Package to speed implementation, and on-demand consultants to optimize ongoing operations. The company has now added a number of important enhancements to version 1.0. These include:
Analytic Window Functions: Provides advanced SQL analytic capabilities based on the SQL-2003 standard
Native Backup & Recovery: Protects against data loss
Bulk, Parallel Export: Exports query results for use in spreadsheets
Integration with Hadoop Ecosystem: Provide HCatalog support for integration to MapReduce, Hive, Pig, and Spark
Authentication and Authorization: Delivers LDAP authentication and column-level privileges
