Synacor Signs OEM Agreement with VNC to Augment Zimbra Email and Collaboration Platform
FREMONT, CA: Synacor, Inc. [NASDAQ: SYNC] announced the signing of an Original Equipment manufacturing Agreement with VNC in order to incorporate VNCtalk, a chat and conferencing solution into their Zimbra Email and collaboration platform. Zimbra is one of the largest open source collaboration software and its integration with VNCtalk will allow Zimbra users to hold e-learning events, webinars, online meetings, and sharing online content from their browsers and mobile devices.
Synacor has been developing deeper partnerships within its network of integrators and developers to enhance the performance of its global platform by adding innovative features to it. “Zimbra’s worldwide partner and open source communities have been a rich source of innovation,” says Brent Rhymes, EVP of Channel Sales and Marketing for Synacor. This strategic OEM partnership with VNC will help Synacor in expanding its product line.
Meanwhile VNCtalk has already acquired the reputation of being an open and affordable solution for chatting along with audio and video conferencing. “Our partnership with Synacor provides customers worldwide with access to our collaboration technology under the Zimbra brand, sold by Zimbra’s partner network of value added resellers (VARs) and cloud service providers,” says Bernd Rodler, VNC Chairman of the Board.
Zimbra’s clients and partners have been waiting for the company to roll out an integrated chat and audio/video solution. The agreement between Synacor and Zimbra will lead to the incorporation of community developed innovation into Zimbra’s product suite with their clients leveraging these new functionalities to enhance their host-collaboration services.
