Telstra Unveils One-to-Many Cloud Gateway: Aiming to Provide Secure Access to Multiple Cloud Services
FREMONT, CA: Cloud service provider, Telstra has recently unveiled Cloud Gateway to help its customers to connect with multiple cloud environments. It offers private and secure connectivity directly into multiple public cloud platforms.
The new one-to-many “gateway” model connects an IP network service to the cloud via data carriage, cross connects in the hosting data centre, configuration and support. It helps clients to access their chosen cloud platform securely from around the world, with an increased application performance through Telstra’s IP network. “Cloud Gateway, combined with Telstra’s wide range of best of breed cloud environments, aims to help customers take full advantage of the ways cloud-based workloads can improve agility, reduce costs and support innovation when they reside in fit-for-purpose cloud architectures,” says Philip Jones, Executive Director, Global Products and Solutions, Telstra.
The Cloud Gateway offering will allow Australian customers to connect with Microsoft Azure, Office365, AWS, IBM SoftLayer, and VMware vCloud Air, while international customers can only connect to AWS and IBM SoftLayer. After the launch of its Cloud innovation centre, Telstra has been making a fast move towards the cloud space. The centre was launched alongside partners AWS and Ericsson with an aim to accelerate the adoption of cloud technologies. “Telstra is very well positioned to help customers with hybrid and multi-cloud strategies, as we bring the cloud and the network together. The network is the fundamental piece of the puzzle that helps provide a secure and reliable application experience,” adds Jones.
The Company has scheduled the global availability of Cloud Gateway from June this year.
