The Future of Energy: Transition from Conventional to Renewable
Now is the time to shift to cleaner and more sustainable energy and technologies are making the transition viable and affordable.
FREMONT, CA: For the longest time, the world has depended on non-renewable and conventional sources of energy. Environmental concerns and awareness about how fossil fuels harm the planet and give rise to global warming and climate change have caused a shift in focus towards sustainable and environmental-friendly sources of energy like wind and solar power. These clean and green energy sources can prove to be instrumental in safeguarding the environment, along with bringing a host of other benefits.
Not until a few years ago, migration of energy production to renewable options was feasible. The technologies were still under development stage, and the prices of energy production were high. The situation has improved quite a lot in recent years with wind and solar power generation technologies becoming affordable and advanced. Many nations have given encouraging welcome and have set up energy parks to improve the deployment of solar and wind power.

One of the most significant drawbacks of clean energy sources like wind and solar is that the electricity generation depends upon weather conditions and hence is quite unpredictable. There are two ways to deal with it- by backing up electricity generation from renewable resources with electricity generated from the conventional, non-renewable resources or by developing batteries that can store vast amounts of electricity.
Batteries that have been developed, keeping in mind the requirement of storing clean energy are already available in the market. Although there is scope for a lot of innovation and improvement to increase the efficiency and capacity of these batteries, the possibilities are realistic. Clubbing the electricity from the grids and the power from the windmills or solar panels makes the availability of energy reliable as well.
Clean energy is becoming mainstream now. One can expect that in the near future, there will be a complete shift to these forms of energy and a gradual reduction in the capacity of traditional grid-supplied electricity. Smart grids that are more efficient and enable cost-savings, along with increasing sustainability, will revolutionize the energy sector.
