Toyota Expands Partnership with I.D. Systems for Industrial Vehicle Fleet Management
FREMONT, CA: Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas (TMMTX) enters into a partnership with I.D Systems by purchasing its PowerFleet Vehicle Management (VMS) software for better management of industrial vehicle fleets.
VMS is the wireless technology that will be deployed on a fleet of material handling equipment at TMMTS’s San Antonio production facility. The new deployments include: I.D. Systems' "VAC4" fourth-generation Vehicle Asset Communicator on material handling equipment, PowerFleet Vision software remotely hosted by I.D. Systems, and a service and support contract over a five-year term.
VMS improves workplace safety and security by restricting vehicle access to trained, authorized operators, providing electronic vehicle inspection checklists, and sensing vehicle impacts. Automation in vehicle data uploading, vehicle problem reporting, and scheduling maintenance delivers cost benefits.
The VAC4 simplifies VMS installation on industrial trucks within less time. It helps to operate VMS more easily as a remote service, and enhances functionality. It is a versatile platform for a variety of wireless solutions, including Wi-Fi, VHF and cellular, which support cloud-hosting. With "VMS-as-a-service", customers can reduce upfront capital outlay and benefit from a wide range of hosting, technical support and maintenance services, along with software licenses, for a flat monthly fee.
"We are pleased to continue expanding our business with Toyota, with its reputation as one of the world's most efficient, innovative, high-quality manufacturers. Our wireless technology has been deployed in Toyota production plants for more than 10 years and we look forward to helping Toyota Texas sustain the best-practice benefits of our solution for industrial fleet management for many years to come," said Kenneth Ehrman, Chairman and CEO, I.D. Systems'.
