U-Haul's U Box Offers Real-Time Visibility into Transportation Service
DALLAS, TX: Transplace, a provider of transportation management services and logistics technology has joined hands with U-Haul International; and the very fact that U-Haul International has implemented the company’s exclusive Software-as-a-Solution (SaaS) - Transportation Management System (TMS) to improve operational efficiency and efficiently manage its U-Box shipments, bears a testament to the growing stature of Transplace in this field. U-Haul utilizes Transplace’s web based technology and Business Intelligence (BI) analytics to optimize its U-Box transportation network, view shipments in real-time and reduce overall transportation costs.
U-Haul’s U-Box program expertise lies in transporting and delivering storage containers that allow customers to load their belongings and schedule pick-up of containers for delivery to a new location or storage facility. U-Haul utilizes the Transplace system to take advantage of consolidation and optimization opportunities across its U-Box network, which includes about 50,000 containers shipped between 1,500 U-Haul facilities.
“The U-Box program has grown rapidly over the last three years and with the Transplace TMS solution, now has optimal technology to support real-time visibility and planning, as well as enable consolidation and other optimization opportunities across our entire network,” said Chasan Royer, Project Manager, U-Box. “After a thorough search for a solution provider, we chose Transplace for its comprehensive logistics technology, reporting capabilities and operational support.”
Using real-time network views, U-Haul’s U Box team is well equipped to make informed decisions in order to run its business in a competitive and cost effective way. Moreover, U-Box takes advantage of Transplace’s Freight Allocation Module (FAM), which gives carriers instant visibility and allows them to quickly and easily bid on loans. The real-time access to transportation service gives U-Box the edge, which enables the customer to quickly and efficiently find, screen and classify transportation carriers with the air-ride equipment ready for its shipment.
“Transplace’s Freight Allocation Module (FAM) is an extremely useful tool that allows our customers to identify capacity with their preferred transportation partners and determine the lowest cost per load and per lane,” said Vincent Chiodo, Senior Vice President, Sales, Transplace.
