ValiMail Research Report Finds DMARC Adoption and Usage Rising
Businesses are realizing the value of protecting email domains and are therefore welcoming DMARC protocol, reports ValiMail.
FREMONT, CA: ValiMail is an industry leader in offering identity-based anti-phishing solutions. In its Email Fraud Landscape Summer 2020 Report, the company has released insights and trends about how the adoption of Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance (DMARC) is evolving. The protocol empowers companies to protect the domains they own and prevent spoofing. As per the report, DMARC deployments have crossed the 1 million mark. That makes it 2.5 times higher than the adoptions in 2018.
DMARC is recommended for all federal agencies by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. U.S. Federal Trade Commission advises it for businesses. Even the Mobile, Messaging, and Malware Anti-Abuse Working Group (M3AAWG) considers the protocol to be an integral tool in minimizing phishing attacks.
"The benefits of email authentication are clear, which is why it's so encouraging to see so many domains adopting the DMARC standard. Now they will need to get to enforcement ” the point at which they're actually protected from being spoofed by bad actors. But it's not just about selfinterest: DMARC with enforcement is increasingly mandated by a variety of organizations and standards, such as BIMI because it is such a strong, reliable signal of domain identity. Authentication with enforcement will be even more critical in the coming months as the world begins to adopt a zero-trust approach to email security," said Alexander Garc¬a-Tobar, CEO and co-founder, ValiMail.
With configuration policies enforced, it is easier to detect inauthentic emails, but as per the reports from ValiMail, very few companies, at 13.9 percent, use enforcement policies. However, there is also proof of rising awareness and adoption.
ValiMail has been ranked among the 20 Most Promising Enterprise Security Solutions Provider 2020 by CIOReview. As a company leading the anti-phishing capabilities, ValiMail has created a reputation for itself and has won dozens of awards for its technology-backed initiatives at securing digital communications.
