Varian Medical Systems to Exhibit New Technologies at ASTRO

SAN FRANCISCO, CA: Varian Medical Systems, provider of advanced technology for fighting cancer and for X-ray imaging has decided to showcase technologies developed to support knowledge sharing among oncology professionals at the meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO).

"We will unveil some new, interconnected software products aimed at improving efficiency, quality, and consistency of care in cancer clinics around the world," says Kolleen Kennedy, president of Varian's Oncology Systems business.  "We're particularly excited to be offering a first glimpse of our new cloud community, where users of Varian technology can share information and experience."

At the event, Varian Medical Systems is expected to highlight software and services that enable information sharing and data analytics to support more efficient, higher-quality cancer care. Some among them are:  The TrueBeam and Edge platforms for image-guided radiotherapy and radiosurgery; InSightive Analytics, a new interactive dashboard that organizes and presents information in a simple display for easy decision making; Qumulate QA, a cloud-based quality assurance data management and analysis tool for analyzing and benchmarking linear accelerator quality assurance (QA) performance;    Velocity oncology software for compiling patient images and treatment data:  RapidPlan knowledge-based treatment planning, a software tool that uses historical treatment plan data to increase plan quality and streamline the treatment planning process.
