Vormetric Joins with Nutanix to Pave the Way for Compliance and Data Breach Protection for the Enterprises
FREMONT, CA: Data centers being the backbone of the digital economy yet are vulnerable to attacks that are disrupting businesses at worse. In this scenario, enterprises need to fully engage with the latest technology trends to define, achieve and maintain effective security while on the other hand should understand the security threats by using contextual information and other security intelligence. Addressing the issues, Vormetric collaborates with Nutanix to come up with a data security solution for the enterprises by using Nutanix Xtreme Computing Platform (XCP). As a part of partnership, Vormetric validates its products Vormetric Transparent Encryption (VTE) and Vormetric Key Management (VKM) as Nutanix Ready for Networking and Security.
The Nutanix XCP is a ready to use platform for running the enterprise applications at any scale. With distributed web-scale architecture, Nutanix hyperconverged appliances can run many workloads simultaneously, including enterprise databases, applications, virtual desktop environments and Big Data workloads for efficiency, flexibility and low total costs of ownership.
By regulating encryption keys for Key Management Interoperability Protocol (KMIP) compatible with the self encrypting drives within Nutanix XCP, VKM offers an entry level of compliance that protects against loss or theft of these drives from the Nutanix XCP nodes.
VTE meets the compliance requirements for the protection of sensitive information by working within guest OS instances running on various hypervisors on Nutanix XCP and encrypting data at the file system level. By providing access controls to encrypted data, it delivers strong security against hackers or malicious insiders who attempt to access at the system level.
"Nutanix solutions offer tremendous value to enterprises building cloud environments, running critical applications and consolidating infrastructure," said Vice President of Business Development for Vormetric, Arun Gowda. "Many solutions running within these environments will have access to sensitive data elements, and as a result, they must be protected against data breach risks, and also meet regulatory and compliance requirements for data security. Vormetric's validation on the Nutanix Xtreme Computing Platform assures customers of a strongly supported solution to these problems."
On the whole, the combination of the encryption and key management solutions with Nutanix XCP with self-encrypting drives enable compliance and protection from cyber threats, without sacrificing speed and flexibility.
