Waters Launches New Mass Spectrometer
MILFORD, MA: Waters Corporation has launched their new XEVO TQ-XS mass spectrometer, a highly sensitive benchtop, tandem quadrupole instrument. The new mass spectrometry system is equipped with the newly designed StepWave XS ion guide and features a distinctive combination of ion optics, detection and ionization technologies.
Waters creates business advantages for laboratory-dependent organizations by delivering Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and chemistry products, clinical diagnostic applications, Mass Spectrometry (MS) systems, and laboratory informatics solutions. UPLC-MS quantitive studies feature in almost all the decisions taken by the scientists today and have proved crucial for them to carry out repeatable quantitative studies and achieve lower limits of quantification with an instrument that can be accessed multiple users. Xevo TQ-XS is an advanced analytics tool and is the result of ingenious engineering and application of instrument physics. The tool has been designed to ensure better levels of reproducibility, accuracy, and performance in quantitative mass spectrometry analysis.
With the introduction of the new StepWave XS ion guide, the firm aims to remove neutral species and transmit ions in a more focused beam to the detector by including segmented quadrupole transfer optics in the second stage. The result will be a 2x to 10x increase in signal/noise as compared to earlier version of StepWave along with the delivery of an exceptional robustness over thousands of injections.
The Xevo TQ-XS also features an XDR Detector, a photomultiplier detection system that qualifies sample compounds across a concentration range of six orders of magnitude. This dispenses the need to dilute and re-inject samples so that they stay within the limited dynamic range of the instrument being used by the scientists. The Xevo TQ-XS is the latest addition to Waters’ portfolio of Xevo mass spectrometers that includes Xevo TQD, the Xevo TQ-S and the Xevo G2-XS QTof versions. Characterized by their universal ion source architecture and interchangeable ion sources the company has changed the way analytical chemists work in high-throughput labs mass spectrometry instrumentation.
