WebAR SDK Tool by Blippar to Enhance AR Experiences

By CIOReview | Monday, October 25, 2021

Blippar launches WebAR SDK, a robust, free-to-use toolkit that empowers developers to construct unique augmented reality experiences from the ground up, establishing the groundwork for the metaverse to be built.

FREMONT, CA: Augmented reality enhances the scope of the physical world, and virtual reality creates completely immersive virtual environments. Blippar, the leading augmented reality (AR) technology business, has come up with WebAR SDK technology, demonstrating its dedication to placing power in the hands of artists. The toolkit will enable makers of augmented reality experiences to create their own immersive WebAR experiences from scratch using HTML and Java scripting.

Speaking about the tool, Blippar CEO Faisal Galaria comments, “We believe the world is a better place with more creators. Blippar is focused on making AR widely accessible and putting the most powerful AR creation tools in the hands of brands, agencies, and developers. With our new WebAR SDK were enabling creatives and developers to build and publish their own WebAR experiences from scratch, anchored with our most advanced SLAM technology to date. Not only have we made WebAR SDK easy to use, but we’ve made the pricing intuitive and accessible. Were excited to see how our users push the boundaries of AR even further.”

Blippar’s WebAR SDK includes the most robust implementation of simultaneous location and mapping (SLAM) to date, with tracking accuracy of 99 percent when locked and an angular accuracy margin of error of less than 1 percent. SLAM is a collection of computer vision technologies that enable developers and creatives to create significantly more interactive, immersive, and realistic augmented reality experiences by using the device camera to create a mesh user’s environment, including floors, walls, ceilings, etc. and other objects. This enables the SDK to track the user's environment, transform everything into an interactive element, and lock augmented reality objects in position relative to the environment.

WebAR SDK users will have access to full 24/7 support from the Blippar team to help them hone their creative campaigns. The platform will be completely free to use, create, and publish from during its beta phase " with its immersive WebAR experiences accessible and shareable across platforms including browsers, Facebook, TikTok, WeChat, and WhatsApp " a further step toward ensuring that access to AR creativity is accessible to everyone.
