World Fuel Services Expediting Significant Network Transformation with Aryaka's Solutions

The new project aims to provide secure connectivity for World Fuel Services’ global hybrid workforce while minimizing their total cost of ownership (TCO).

FREMONT, CA: “We wanted to consume our network in the same way we consume the cloud, which is an as-a-service model, but at the same time, we wanted to make sure the company we worked with was culturally aligned to who we are and who we want to be. Those are the two core reasons we chose Aryaka,” said Richard Delisser, vice president of global infrastructure at World Fuel Services, while stating about choosing Aryaka’s—the leader in fully managed SD-WAN and SASE—cloud-first platform for its latest network transformation initiative.

World Fuel Services is a leading global energy company. The new project aims to provide secure connectivity for World Fuel Services’ global hybrid workforce while minimizing their TCO. The firm sells and distributes aviation, marine, and land fuel supplies and energy management solutions to clients in over 200 countries across the world. The Fortune 500 corporation is located in Miami, Florida, and employs people from all over the world, including the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Asia.

When World Fuel Services began a company-wide digital transformation program, upgrading their core on-premises network was the first and most crucial step toward realizing their goal of a cloud-first architecture. The company’s Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network was unreliable, costly, and time-consuming to maintain across all of its global locations. Their IT department determined that they needed a unified, cloud-based architecture to offer its important SaaS apps, such as Microsoft Office365, Box, Slack, Zoom, and others, without raising costs or complexity in management.

After deciding that it suited all of their criteria, World Fuel Services swiftly implemented Aryaka’s fully managed Cloud-First SD-WAN solution with last-mile management services. Global application performance and network redundancy improved after the deployment, while the business’s network TCO dropped by 25 percent.

When the global pandemic struck in 2020, World Fuel Services, like most companies, was faced with the task of transitioning from an on-site to a wholly remote workforce. The old VPN used by the company was slow and unstable. Latency for distant workers dropped after Aryaka Private Access; a secure managed VPN-as-a-Service solution was deployed. Remote users anecdotally remarked the great experience of quick, uninterrupted connectivity.

As a result of this transformation, the organization has embraced a hybrid work environment, seeing it as the way of the future of work. Aryaka is a vital tool in realizing that vision. World Fuel Services wants to be MPLS and data center-free by the end of 2021 by switching to Aryaka’s fully managed SD-WAN and SASE solution. Finally, switching to Aryaka’s managed service has proven to be a significant benefit, saving the IT department both time and money.
