Zinwave's UNItivity Uplifts Mobile Operators through Flexible DAS Hardware
SAN JOSE, CA: With the aim of uplifting the capabilities offered by mobile operators by increasing capacity and frequency, Zinwave upgrades its UNItivity wideband Distributed Antenna System (DAS) platform to Advanced Wireless Services (AWS-3) and 600 MHz frequency bands. Zinwave is a provider of wideband distributed network solutions for in-building cellular and public safety services.
Aiming to uplift mobile operators with increased capacity and high frequency system, Zinwave announce that its UNItivity wideband Distributed Antenna System (DAS) platform upgrades to Advanced Wireless Services (AWS-3) and 600 MHz frequency bands.
The company plans to roll out AWS-3 frequency to the latest 600 MHz spectrum. The AWS-3 band comprises of unpaired uplink spectrum in the 1695-1710 MHz band range, blocking paired uplink spectrum from 1755-1780 MHz, and also blocks paired downlink spectrum from 2155-2180 MHz bands. The 600 MHz spectrum is in advance of AWS-3 because of its high quality wireless airwaves which penetrate through the walls, and work better over long-distance than high frequency spectrum.
The platform features very less weight of the hardware which is flexible to any frequency, compact in size, energy efficient and can be easily installed. UNItivity’s architecture is compatible with any frequency band from 150 MHz to 2700 MHz without the need of any hardware upgrade proving beneficial for the operators, “Customers can adapt to any frequency without worrying about paying for additional hardware down the road,” explains John Spindler, Vice President of Marketing, Zinwave. Whenever a new upgrade such as the AWS-3 or 600 MHz needs to be installed into the existing hardware, operators just need to plug-in the new Radio Frequency (RF) source to the UNItivity hub and the installation process is done.
Mobile operators are eagerly waiting to take part in the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) 2016 auction for 600 MHz spectrum’s license. This reminds FCC’s AWS-3 2015 auction that was sealed by T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon and other similar companies. RCR Wireless site reported that the Auction for 600 MHz is scheduled to be held on 29th March and is expected to draw significant interest from domestic mobile operators looking to bolster their spectrum portfolios with attractive low-band spectrum licenses.
