Unifying Services Firms with Microsoft Technology

For professional services and technology firms, the first sale is only the beginning of a client relationship. Over time, that client will generate up to 8 times the original transaction’s revenue through projects, managed services, renewals and additional engagements. Yet information needed to manage that relationship is often spread across CRM, project management, support, billing and financial systems.

TekStack brings these functions together on a single platform, giving professional services teams one client record and one source of operational information. This allows sellers to retain visibility after a deal moves into delivery and understand project progress, client health and renewal or expansion opportunities. Delivery teams work from the same information as sales and support, while finance operations teams gain visibility into project milestones and financial activity.

“We can combine the CRM function for all the sales marketing requirements that a services firm would have, with the project delivery function, as well as the billing function,” says Marc DiGiorgio, co-founder and managing director.

The connected functions let sellers see what is happening across an account when pursuing a renewal or identifying an expansion opportunity. Visibility into client communications, like meeting recaps or emails, helps assess relationship risk. That shared context becomes increasingly important as many organizations based on professional services revenue move beyond traditional time-and-materials models toward managed and value-based services.

Built for the Microsoft Environment

TekStack is built on Microsoft’s Power Platform and Dataverse and operates within its customers’ Microsoft tenant. This extends the platform into familiar tools such as Teams, Outlook, Power BI and Copilot while keeping CRM, project and financial information within a common data foundation. For organizations handling sensitive or regulated work, particularly in healthcare and government, this can provide an important security advantage.

Winning a new client is the first step. Sustainable growth comes from delivering successfully and maintaining visibility into the opportunities that follow.

The platform is also designed to remain open as customer needs evolve. Organizations can add fields and tables, develop workflows and applications, connect other systems through unlimited APIs and even securely connect external AI tools like Claude or ChatGPT, or simply use the TekStack Agent that ships with the platform. Instead of locking customers into a fixed operating model, its open architecture allows them to adapt the platform to their needs.

Turning Operational Data into Action

The combination of a common Microsoft data foundation and open architecture creates the basis for TekStack’s AI capabilities. With operational information residing in the same data environment, its agentic AI capabilities work across a broader business context.

Autonomous agents can identify information from activities such as Teams meetings and turn it into actions, updating project records or assigning tasks without requiring a project manager to process the information manually. Conversational agents allow leaders to query the same operational data directly, using indicators such as project end-date slippage, hours consumed relative to progress, and sentiment expressed in meetings and calls to assess which projects are at risk and what actions may be needed.

The value of this approach is evident in customer applications. One global services organization with nearly 100 resource employees managing around 300 projects annually was struggling with profitability as project budgets were exhausted too early. TekStack helped identify a loophole in statements of work and project assumptions that allowed additional work to proceed without appropriate commercial controls. By helping the customer revise their scope documentation and project assumptions, it helped protect margins and strengthen control over project profitability.

TekStack extends this ability with a hands-on adoption model designed to remove implementation and migration barriers. Its subscription includes no-cost implementation, no-cost data migration, unlimited application support and managed services depending on the bundle. The approach reflects its view that going live is the beginning of operational change, not its conclusion.

As it continues investing in agentic capabilities, deeper Microsoft integrations and Teams-based workflows, the focus remains on making professional services operations more connected, adaptable and actionable. By bringing PSA operations onto an open Microsoft foundation where shared data can support both connected workflows and AI-driven action, TekStack has earned recognition as the Top Microsoft PSA Solution 2026.

Deep Dive

What to Verify in a Microsoft PSA Platform

Professional services firms running Microsoft environments can still face considerable friction between project delivery and financial management. Sales teams may work in a CRM while consultants record time elsewhere and finance reconciles invoices through separate applications. The resulting delays are particularly costly when contracts combine fixed-price projects with recurring services. A Microsoft PSA platform must support these different commercial arrangements without forcing staff to reconstruct project records during billing. Integration depth determines how much of that administrative work disappears. A shared customer record should connect contractual commitments with project progress and subsequent account activity. Sales personnel need access to delivery information when discussing renewals, while project managers require current budgets and resource assignments. Finance departments depend on accurate time entries and billing milestones. Interfaces that merely transfer records between applications may leave reconciliation work intact, particularly when updates occur at different intervals. Microsoft architecture introduces a more specific procurement decision. Products advertised as Microsoft-compatible may differ substantially in where customer information resides and how employees access it. Software deployed within an organization's Microsoft tenant offers a different arrangement from an external application connected through Microsoft integrations. Buyers handling sensitive client information should establish where records are stored, how access permissions are administered and whether existing Microsoft security controls extend to the PSA environment. Deployment architecture can also affect data governance responsibilities. “TekStack uses Microsoft Dataverse to maintain a shared customer record across sales and service delivery, allowing project activity to inform account management and billing decisions.” Customization presents a related tradeoff. Standard project templates rarely accommodate every billing arrangement or approval process across a growing services business. Yet extensive modifications can complicate upgrades and increase dependence on outside developers. Buyers should examine whether the underlying data model permits additional fields and workflows without replacing standard functionality. API access, ownership of customized applications and the treatment of modifications during updates deserve explicit contractual clarification. Billing accuracy often exposes weaknesses that project dashboards conceal. Time entries recorded against outdated tasks can produce disputed charges, while missed milestones postpone otherwise legitimate invoices. A capable PSA system should connect work authorization to invoice preparation and give accounting personnel access to outstanding billing events. Executives should also establish whether subscription revenue and deferred revenue can be managed alongside conventional project charges. Those arrangements place different demands on financial records. AI-assisted project administration adds another layer to the purchase. Meeting summaries become useful when agreed actions reach the appropriate project records rather than remaining in individual inboxes. Conversational reporting can help directors identify budget overruns or schedule slippage, provided the underlying information is current. Access permissions and human review remain important when automated agents modify assignments. Implementation support also deserves attention because consolidating established systems changes how employees record work and approve charges. Subscription pricing alone rarely captures that transition. TekStack combines CRM, project delivery and billing within a PSA application built on Microsoft Power Platform and Dataverse. It operates inside the customer's Microsoft tenant, connecting service records with familiar Microsoft applications. TekStack uses Microsoft Dataverse to maintain a shared customer record across sales and service delivery, allowing project activity to inform account management and billing decisions. Its platform supports configurable workflows and OData APIs, while managed solution layers help administer customization. Subscription packages include application support, implementation and data migration, alongside Revenue Max managed services. IT services firms consolidating disconnected systems within an established Microsoft environment, particularly those managing recurring contracts alongside project billing, match this delivery model....Read more
