Empowering Impactful Technology Adoption in the Social Impact Sector

A Managed Service Provider (MSP) is the expert support a network needs so businesses can focus on what they do best. The significance of MSPs has increased over the last decade as the business landscape accelerated into the digital age. However, several industries still struggle with technology adoption due to the limited availability of MSPs that can effectively integrate with their existing deployments and bridge operational gaps. A key sector currently in the process of making transformative changes to its technology deployment strategies is the social impact space.

Varsity Technologies, a technology partner that aids businesses in the social impact sector to adopt the right cloud migration technologies, is at the forefront of driving this transition. Leveraging 25 years of industry experience, Varsity works with organizations to enhance their strategic business processes and operations with tech-driven applications and tools. They essentially assist clients with limited technical expertise to access their data and utilize it to reach their goals with its data management and analytics services.

A company dedicated to helping empower true social impact, Varsity reduced its carbon footprint by 50 percent in 2009 and received the legal certification as a B Corp Benefit Corporation in 2012 after California passed a law recognizing benefit corporations. In 2020, Varsity became carbonneutral and green-certified thanks to its dedicated Hybrid Work Program. Even before COVID-19 boosted its growth, Varsity was well-versed in creating hybrid work opportunities, providing best-suited technologies for hybrid and fully remote work environments. They also enlighten clients on the tools that enable remote work culture and accountability.

These competencies allow Varsity to serve non-profits, social, behavioral, and mental health services, healthcare for-profits and non-profits, medical and community clinics, education institutes, and regional and global sustainabilitybased businesses. For every client, they focus on an agile method for improving their environment and deploying a continuous improvement model, a well-known idea in the software tech sector but new for smaller businesses. They leverage a scalable methodology built with a customer-centric mindset to enable customers to make cost-effective and efficient changes to their technology infrastructure.

According to Patrick Ciccarelli, co-founder and CEO of Varsity, technology migration is a cornerstone process where Varsity closely collaborates with clients to help them understand their pre-existing infrastructure gaps and improve technology usage. Varsity deploys a seven-step process that includes everything from problem identification and resolution to building and managing a sustainable and scalable operation. Following this, they set up a continuous improvement lifecycle management, a four-stage process, which helps clients identify the best investment strategies, manage operational initiatives, and self-assess and audit them.

“Instead of pushing our clients to provide feedback, we self-assess and audit their internal operations to deliver strategic planning that quickly helps them adapt to current technologies,” says Ciccarelli.

Varsity’s flagship product, Elevate, embodies the cornerstone process for elevating technology use. After Elevate, Varsity expanded their offerings beyond technology and IT service to cloud applications for data management. Their SaaS products are generally cloud-agnostic and built in collaboration with Microsoft, Google, Azure, and AWS, enabling clients to choose from an array of options. For instance, businesses looking to boost their productivity can opt for Google or Microsoft, while firms emphasizing cloud administration can select AWS or Azure. Maintaining the authenticity of its cloud services, Varsity continually seeks partnerships with the best cloud providers for better technology adoption, customized solutions, valuable outputs, and higher performance.

From a data security standpoint, Varsity takes a very different approach and considers cybersecurity, data protection, and governance essential parts of business risk management. Varsity informs clients about the risks and cyber threats affecting their business continuity and aligns its product offerings. In most cases, they teach clients about data governance and application management for boosting the safety of their datasets.

Instead of pushing our clients to provide feedback, we self-assess and audit their internal operations to deliver strategic planning that quickly helps them adapt to current technologies

One story highlighting Varsity’s impact is of a company that experienced rapid growth in their workforce. Starting as a 70-person non-profit organization, this client’s leadership foresaw their imminent rise and looked for a skilled MSP to upgrade their business operations. Unfortunately, their incumbent MSP couldn’t adapt to their new business strategy executions, which led them to choose Varsity owing to its proven reliability and end-to-end process, from strategizing and planning to execution. As the organization grew to add 150 more employees, Varsity discussed strategic plans, proforma budgets, and ways to resolve their technology-related issues. They also analyzed their existing operational tools and delivered synchronized and long-term support solutions, delivering better and safe access to data for their growing workforce.

Varsity continually explores solutions to align social impact goals with technology advancement. Their team of passionate IT experts aims to become the go-to provider that designs their operations in sync with a client’s technology transformation and evolving innovation.
