Bret Arsenault is Corporate Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at Microsoft Corp., Bret Arsenault is responsible for information security and risk management, setting the company’s security incidence response strategy. He leads a global team of security professionals focused on protecting the company’s assets through programs that span education and awareness, governance, identity and access management, enterprise business continuity management, and security assessments. Arsenault is charged with detecting security and risk issues through operations and monitoring, threat and vulnerability analysis, risk assessments, and controls tools.
As part of his role, Arsenault chairs Microsoft’s Information Risk Management Council, which brings together teams from across the company focused on protecting data – belonging to customers and to Microsoft. He also hosts Microsoft’s Security Council a forum with enterprise customers that drives product direction and operational best practices. His role, combined with extensive experience in network computing, distributed processing, security, and web-based solutions, gives him a rich technical and strategic skillset needed to drive the security business, from engineering through to the Board.
Arsenault is involved at the executive level with both Microsoft customers and partners, and holds advisory board roles with government agencies, enterprise and start-up companies, as well as industry associations. He is on the Executive Security Action Forum program committee and is a founding member of the Security 50. Arsenault was recently awarded the 2015 Technology Executive Network award for Executive of the Year, Commercial Sector.
