Stephen Brennan is Senior Vice President of Cyber Network Defence at DarkMatter. He leads DarkMatter’s elite team of active and defensive cyber experts who work together to blend people, processes and technologies to help government, infrastructure and corporate clients respond to today’s most advanced threats across a rapidly evolving landscape.

He has experience in domains ranging from Internet of Things to the cloud, apps and big data. His comprehensive industry expertise includes aerospace, defence, energy, materials, manufacturing, retail, health, finance, IT, telecommunications and utilities.He began his cyber security career as a hardware and software hacker, and spent many years developing and writing first- to third-generation languages on a wide range of platforms. His depth of knowledge and experience across such a wide range of domains allows Stephen to address both the art and science of security. He presents regularly at industry leadership events.

Before joining DarkMatter, Stephen was the Global General Manager of CSC’s Global Cyber security Consulting practice. Stephen has helped hundreds of organisations ensure both effective security and full compliance, by combining his in-depth evidence-based understanding of how to apply protection to areas where it is needed most, with his knowledge of compliance intent and requirements for programmes such as HIPAA, ISA99, PCI-DSS and ISO27000. He works closely with public and private sector entities to address the growing profile of advanced persistent threats (APT) and the challenge of effective incident response and threat intelligence.
