Navigating a Multi-Industry Journey

My career spans over 20 years across various industries, including oil and gas, manufacturing, E-gaming, consulting, retail and technology startups. I’ve grown from managing IT infrastructure to leading full digital transformations, with the belief that IT is a business driver. Always focused on how technology can deliver business solutions that result in meaningful business outcomes and reach objectives.

These experiences taught me that successful IT leadership requires both strategic vision and a hands-on understanding of the tech stack, because there’s no way to deliver innovation if IT does not understand the business. That means knowing the use cases, the fundamental requirements and continuously analyzing solution architecture to ensure functionality, stability, scalability and resilience. These are more than buzzwords—if applied properly, they can make IT an ideal business partner.

Joining Hola Moda was a natural progression. I was drawn to the challenge of leading IT strategy across multiple countries for a dynamic retail brand in its full expansion. Here, I apply my philosophy that technology should empower teams and support growth, balancing innovation with operational excellence to allow business processes to be agile and efficient.

Creating a Unified yet Flexible IT Strategy

A successful IT strategy embraces innovation while it balances standardization with flexibility. Defining clear global standards in areas like security, data governance and core infrastructure ensures consistency and manages risk, setting a foundation for the more complex process-oriented solutions. These foundations provide the stability needed for broader success

In our vision, it's essential to understand how local requirements vary across the landscape to tailor solutions to each market’s needs. Encouraging collaboration, regular communication and shared performance metrics helps maintain alignment while enabling innovation and responsiveness on the ground.

Key IT Metrics

From an IT perspective we base our monitoring on the following:

• Location Network Performance – as all of the IT Services are delivered through the corporate network monitoring site availability is a must.

• Solutions Performance – keeping a keen eye in the performance of all critical solutions and components for the business like POS Systems, ERP Access, and web services, I focus on a blend of operational and business-driven metrics to get a complete picture.

Successful digital transformation depends on collaboration and trust

• Key IT indicators include system uptime, incident response time, and overall availability, ensuring our platforms run smoothly and reliably.

Equally important are business KPIs like transaction volume, traffic, which will ensure customer experience, and operational efficiency across all channels.

Leading Cross-Regional Teams

Building trust within cross-regional IT teams starts with setting a clear vision and defining roles so everyone understands their purpose and expectations. I’m always keen to share the organization’s history and evolution, helping the team understand where we’ve come from.

I prioritize open and frequent communication through structured meetings and shared goals to foster transparency and alignment. At the same time, I empower local resources by giving them the autonomy to make decisions that best suit their markets. This balance of guidance and independence builds confidence, encourages ownership and drives consistent results across regions. With strong teams and a unified strategy in place, the next step is to equip them with the right technologies to scale impact.

The Technologies Driving the Future of Retail

AI stands out for its ability to deliver hyper-personalized customer experiences and actionable insights in real time. Cloud computing continues to provide the agility and scalability essential for omnichannel retail operations.

Additionally, technologies like digital twins offer exciting opportunities to simulate and optimize store layouts and supply chains. Edge computing and computer vision also have the potential to revolutionize in-store automation and enhance customer engagement. But even with the most advanced tools, success depends on how IT leaders understand the business and apply that knowledge.

Lead Through Understanding

My key advice for emerging IT leaders is to focus on understanding the business, its use cases and identifying opportunities to create flexible frameworks rather than rigid rules, while also understanding the local challenges. Actively involve teams in co-creating solutions that respect both global standards and regional realities.

Successful digital transformation depends on collaboration and trust. When teams see their input reflected in the strategy, they become more engaged and committed, making it easier to balance global consistency with local agility.
