New OTT Platform for Rugby by Omnigon
FREMONT, CA: As the sports broadcast industry continues to evolve, a new player—The Rugby Channel, has emerged in the Over-The-Top (OTT) marketplace. This OTT video platform by Omnigon, a digital service provider for sports and entertainment and Rugby International Marketing, a commercial entity of USA Rugby to bring this sport in the phones and homes of fans. The Rugby Channel is made as a subscription based online service that offers live and on-demand coverage of domestic and international rugby matches.
Divided into two phases, The Rugby Channel will begin its operation on iOS and android devices as part of the pilot phase. Later on the service will be extended as TheRugbyChannel.tv on the web. The OTT platform will include both free and paid service, which will vary the content. The free version is expected to showcase short videos whereas the premium paid service will feature live action, real-time match statistics and share through social media platforms options. Its unique features include an HD video player, user personalization, and calendar syncing of global rugby fixtures.
