Some may say that a company’s experience comes from the years of incorporation. We, at Impetus, believe that the experience of our company is the synergy of all of our co-worker’s experiences.

Now, let us take a look at our company’s experience. Impetus was founded in 2005 by the name of NeoTecnologías. We faced many challenges at the beginning but were convinced that the software had to be webbased and installed in a datacenter with access to companies, and that companies would purchase less and less on-premise hardware and software.

In 2008, Microsoft launched "Project Red Dog” that went to become Microsoft Azure in 2010 (Techcommunity/history of Azure). In parallel, Google Platform first saw light in 2008. NeoTecnologías designed and developed cloud ERP, with over 5,000 simultaneous users today, hosted then on Amazon Web Services, now World Class cloud. In 2014, the company’s strategy made us consider the challenge of implementing World Class ERP, helping us to access the enterprise market. This would not have been possible without our experience from previous years. Implementing ERP at any given company or institution is always a major challenge.

TIC Portal (https://www.ticportal.es/), EKCIT (the European Knowledge Center for Information Technology) web initiative, conducted a study in April this year, showing that 40% of ERP implementation projects failed. Considering that 40%, 28% stated that projects were on hold and 15% said that projects were postponed, leading to conclude that most projects were likely to reach completion under highly demanding scenarios for both the organization and the implementation team. There are some key elements from the perspective of the ERP implementation company or institution, one of them being the involvement and the leadership of managers or owners. If they are not actively involved in the project, things become more difficult. There are other elements from the client’s perspective, but these can be explored in another article. Here we will touch upon five elements from the perspective of Impetus as a technology solutions provider. These key elements have helped us to grow and further support our clients every day.

The first and probably one of the most important elements is our intent to team up with our clients. It is not possible to achieve results if clients fail to see us as part of their team. Many projects invest too much time looking for who is to blame for mistakes. Our CEO is always saying, "Gentlemen, let’s work things out!", and this also applies to our clients. We can say that we team up with our clients because we are investing in personal growth workshops even before starting key project stages.

The second element in all of our projects is flexibility. The only constant in life is change, and there is always change. If you do not have flexibility to meet the needs of your clients, you will end up with never-ending projects and – worst of all – leaving the agreements to lawyers.

The third element – and this should not be underestimated – is our co-workers’ ongoing training and certification. We never stop at Impetus. We are hungry for regular updates and certificates. Our staff is always willing to service clients, but the former have now a deep insight into what we do.

Today, companies are a sum of information systems, multiple technologies, and different architectures. To us, this is the fourth element: adaptability, that is, integrating Onpremise-Cloud, Cloud-On-premise, CloudCloud technology into ERP projects in a cost-effective and efficient manner.

The fifth and last element to implement ERP by our client is the use of a consistent methodology so that standardization helps us to measure results and improve each iteration. Today, every project we approach is teaching us a lesson, and that lesson is impacting our methodology.
