Quality and prosperous education requires predictability and financial sustainability

Caio Noronha, co-founder & CEO at Educbank

Education and finance have always been connected, whether it's in mathematics with logic problems or in the desired achievement of financial independence.

Financial education, in my view, is the greatest asset a person or organization needs for its development. That's why I've been studying and working on this intersection between education and finance for years.

While still at university, alongside with a group of friends, we created and developed a social financial education project called "Projeto Pé de Meia" within the university's Financial Club called “Clube de Mercado Financeiro”, where we taught basic knowledge about financial education to public and private school students from all over Brazil. The initiative impacted more than 10,000 students and it was in this day-to-day practice that I realized that financial education could have a huge positive impact on society.

A few years later, Danilo and Fabiola (my current partners at Educbank) presented me with an innovative and pioneering thesis in Latin America, which was to create the architecture of financial products for the k-12 education sector. I didn't hesitate and decided to co-found Educbank. After all, my purpose of financial education had total synergy with the company's mission, which is to expand access to quality education through financial support for high-potential schools.

In other words, through Educbank it would be possible to give school managers financial security and predictability, ensuring that they could focus on the institution's core business of providing quality education and, at the same time, these schools supported by Educbank would be able to train the new generations with much more care and attention to solve real-world problems and from an early age students would be able to create awareness of their financial freedom and independence.

As a result of all this joint and passionate work by our tireless team, our strong culture of being obsessed with our partner schools has emerged. One of our non-negotiable values is that "it's only good for us if it's good for the schools".

Our greatest pride is that, through our proprietary cloud platform, Educbank operates as a SaaS (Software as a Service) one-stop-shop, guaranteeing financial support and access to capital for Brazilian schools, as well as providing funding lines, means of payment and subsidizing technology, management and learning systems (ERP and LMS) and provides insurance for schools to offer to families.

The most curious thing, which is also one of Educbank's biggest differences, is that we are the only institution dedicated to k-12 education that is completely B2B (Business-To-Business) and offers financial security without interfering with the autonomy and authority of schools at the operational level, including without managing collections and without interfering in the relationship between school and family (a relationship that is built day by day in a very solid and intimate way by schools).

  Educbank is a consultative financial partner, where we diagonose the needs of schools and their managers and then offer possibilities for services that fulfill this role of generating positive results for schools.

Educbank is definitely not a collection company or factoring (and that's where the disruption lies), because curiously the players who have emerged inspired by Educbank have chosen to operate in this more obvious way. On the contrary, Educbank acts in a "white label" way, supporting schools, but without interfering in the school's decision-making. Thus, the financial solution created by Educbank was entirely centered on the school's experiences and needs.

Educbank is a consultative financial partner, where we diagonose the needs of schools and their managers and then offer possibilities for services that fulfill this role of generating positive results for schools. We don't take over the management of the schools, but we want to collaborate with the managers so that they can develop to their full potential.

Therefore, in addition to providing cash flow stability throughout the year, Educbank also supports school management with exclusive offers from partner solutions. It's worth highlighting a few examples of our support throughout the school's administrative journey:

  • Administrative and Financial Management: we offer financial and accounting advice with professionals specialized in the educational sector, energy savings through partners that distribute sustainable energy and marketing consultancy to attract and retain students;
  • Academic and Pedagogical Management: we offer a partner solution that has teaching material and a digital platform for teaching Financial Education to students, 100% scholarships for continued training of school managers in the MBA course in School Management at USP (best university in America Latina), we also provide a partner content platform to empower the school workforce through a personalized learning journey and an international education App with practical and interactive content to develop global citizens;
  • Technology Management: we offer automation and simplify the management of educational institutions, as we are integrated with the main school management systems in Brazil, adapting our proprietary platform to the needs of each school and adding the other modules of each ERP, such as digital secretariat, school diary, default monitoring, enrollment record, class diary, among others.

According to the OECD, through PISA, which evaluates educational systems around the world: in Brazil, the vast majority of the population does not have access to education at international quality standards. In other words, tens of millions of Brazilian students do not have access to quality schools, whether in the private or public sphere.

Educbank emerged to solve this chronic problem in Brazilian education, providing long-term financial and institutional security. We believe in the transformative power of education and, through the power of finance, we want to bring sustainability and tranquility to schools and provide quality education for an even larger portion of the Brazilian population.
