NetApp Acquires SolidFire to Address All-Flash Array Market
SUNNYVALE, CA: NetApp has acquired SolidFire, provider of all-flash storage systems, to have all-flash offerings that deal with each of the three largest All-Flash Array market segments.
The acquisition benefits NetApp’s current and future customers looking to gain the advantages of Webscale cloud providers for their own data centers. It places NetApp on the new-gen storage market map. “SolidFire combines the performance and economics of all-flash storage with a Webscale architecture that radically simplifies data center operations and enables rapid deployments of new applications,” comments George Kurian, Executive Vice President of NetApp.
The NetApp All Flash FAS (AFF) product line brings enterprise-grade features across flash, disk and cloud resources to the traditional enterprise buyer, and the NetApp EF series product lines provides SPC-1 with constant low-latency performance and proven 6X9’s reliability to the application owner. While, SolidFire’s distributed, self-healing, Webscale architecture offers seamless scalability, white box economics, and radically simple management, speeding up third platform use cases and Webscale economics.
Moreover, in the near future, SolidFire products will be integrated into NetApp’s data fabric strategy, which will offer seamless data management across flash, disk and cloud resources.
